Sharing your model details has never been easier. With the latest update in Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect 17, users can now copy and share direct links to their favorite artifacts and diagrams, making it effortless to share UML models or ArchiMate views with stakeholders for seamless collaboration.

Systems engineers and other professionals who design systems and components using Enterprise Architect often face challenges when trying to instantly share diagrams with their audience. This is typically due to limited access to effective collaboration tools.

The new feature allows stakeholders to view EA diagrams and model information directly in a web browser, enabling real-time feedback and promoting teamwork through a collaborative modeling platform.

Prerequisites to Share Sparx EA Models Online

1. Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect must be version 17 or above. 

2. The model must be opened via cloud connection in EA. 

3. The respective repository must be added to Prolaborate. 

4. Users must have access to Prolaborate to view the artifacts or diagrams. 

How to Set Up Auto-Generated Shareable Links in Prolaborate

Open the respective model in EA via cloud connection for which you wish to generate shareable Prolaborate URL for the diagrams and artifacts, allowing modelers to share with stakeholders and directly view the objects in Prolaborate. 

Navigate to the cloud option by selecting Settings > Model > Options and click the Cloud section.

Enter the fully qualified URL of the site hosting the model in Prolaborate, including the protocol, server name or IP address and port number. For example, “https://localhost:8443”

Copy and paste the model’s repository ID from the Prolaborate repositories listing page in the Repo ID field.

After entering the details, reload the project, and the links to all diagrams and artifacts will be automatically generated.To copy the Repo ID, click More under the Actions menu of the added repository in Prolaborate and then click the Copy Repo ID.

Copy and Share Your EA Model Views and Artifacts Easily

Once configured, you will notice something new—Shareable links are auto-generated for each diagram, element and package. These shareable links allow you to share artifact details with your audience seamlessly.

The links will be displayed to all diagrams and artifacts in the properties tab in the property name Prolaborate.

Copy the link for the respective diagram or artifact and share it with relevant stakeholders for quick feedback.

Viewing EA Model Data in Prolaborate’s Web Interface

Clicking a shared link redirects the users to the Prolaborate login page. Once logged in, the link will automatically open the corresponding diagram or artifact in Prolaborate based on the user’s role-based access to EA models. This ensures that each stakeholder can only view or edit what they’re authorized to, enhancing security while supporting collaboration.

This seamless integration between Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect and Prolaborate transforms how teams’ access, review, and collaborate on models without disrupting existing workflows. Stakeholders can immediately engage with shared content, making it easier to view, comment on, and even update models in real time.
